A Miracle? A Coincidence? Or Just A Good Song? [VIDEO]
Do you know the story of the Little Brown Church in the Vale – also known as the Church in the Wildwood?
Lemme tell you the tale, real quick like. The year is 1857. A fella named Dr. William S. Pitts is traveling through Nashua, Iowa and sees a spot that he thinks would be perfect for a church. Now, this is just an old patch of wildwood trees, but he “sees” a little brown church. He takes his buggy back home to Wisconsin, writes a tune about the vision he had. Puts the tune away in an old drawer. Forgets about it.
10 years go by.
He’s traveling back through Nashua, Iowa – and there, in the exact spot he “saw” a non-existent church. Is a church. It’s little. It’s brown. It’s in the exact patch of old wildwood trees. Just like the song he wrote 10 years earlier.
So was it a miracle? A coincidence? Or just a good song? Drop me a line and lemme know your thoughts: jackandkittyxo@gmail.com
Today you can visit the Little Brown Church, stop and pray. Sing a song. Tell a joke. Have a picnic. Whatever you want. Here’s what me and Kitty did…
Thanks for visiting. More tunes soon (if the good Lord’s willin’, and the creek don’t rise)!
Cheers,
Jack
