Singing with Charlie Parr: “Thin Dime Blues” [VIDEO]
It was about a hundred years ago when I first met Charlie Parr, another good ol’ Minnesota boy from the fields of southern Minnie, just around the corner from where I’m from here in Mullet River. Charlie was a whiz on the guitar and we had fun playing shows together. Fast forward a few years, and in 2015 my wife Kitty and I were making a documentary film about jug band and hokum blues music. Charlie was kind enough to be interviewed. Afterwards, we picked us an old Blind Lemon Jefferson tune. My jug was full of moonshine, but I still managed to find a tune while Charlie did some guitar strumming. Hope y’all enjoy…
If you wanna grab this tune on Bandcamp, that would be a lovely way to support my music. And if you wanna stream this tune on Spotify, that’s certainly appreciated too! Oh, by the way, me and Kitty are working on re-releasing our film Jug Band Hokum one of these daze, so y’all should be able to watch that soon… if the good Lord’s willin’, and the creek don’t rise.
Cheers,
Jack Norton

PS: Here’s that ol’ Blind Lemon tune that me and Charlie picked. This recording is from 1927…
